Urinary tract infections occur when bacteria enter and multiply in any part of the urinary system, most commonly affecting the bladder and urethra. Symptoms include a burning sensation during urination, frequent urge to urinate, cloudy or strong-smelling urine, pelvic pain, and sometimes fever. Women are at higher risk due to their shorter urethras, but men can develop UTIs as well. Travel can increase UTI risk due to dehydration, bathroom hygiene changes, and delayed treatment access. Most UTIs require antibiotic treatment, which our doctors can prescribe after proper diagnosis. Left untreated, UTIs can spread to the kidneys, causing more serious infections. Preventive measures include staying hydrated, urinating frequently, and proper hygiene practices.
